Over the course of the Fall 2019 semester, my team performed an audit and created deliverables to improve the communications efforts of the Hussman School of Journalism and Media’s Career Services department.
Employer Fact Sheet
Beyond just communicating with the Hussman student body, it is vital that the Career Services department is able to communicate with employers. Because of this, our team curated information for a fact sheet that will be available online for employers to refer to. Once we curated important information about the Hussman school, I was able to design a front-and-back informational fact sheet with Adobe Illustrator.Hussman-One-Sheet-Final
Student Spotlights Sliders
To highlight the previous contributions of the Career Services department and highlight notable student accomplishments, I designed Student Spotlights that highlight the internship and job opportunities pursued by UNC Hussman students. These spotlights will be displayed on the TV monitors around the Journalism school to promote these students and the resources of the Career Services department.
Furthermore, an important goal of the department is to diversify representation amongst the student body. With this goal in mind, our team worked hard to aggregate information from a variety of different people with different experiences.
Weekly Newsletter Promotions on Social Media
A significant problem facing the department was low engagement with their weekly newsletter that highlights various events and deadlines. Our team decided that the best way to improve engagement was to move this newsletter from students’ inboxes to their smartphones. By creating graphics for Instagram and Twitter, students were able to become more aware of these events and were referred to check out the newsletter for more information.
Jay Eubanks FAQ
To add a personal touch to the project, I completed a FAQ with the Hussman Director of Career Services, Jay Eubanks.Jay-Eubank-FAQ
To encompass the whole project, we completed a SWOT analysis on Career Services’ communications efforts.Communication-Audit-Final
